Nerine

4 items found.

Lovely graceful flower heads in umbels. They are decorative in the garden but their great value is as a cutflower. Flowers from September to November.
The ideal situation is against a wall facing South setting the bulbs with the nose just below the soil level. When plants have died down they should be covered with a thick layer of bracken to give winter protection. Nerines are best left undisturbed. When clumps become congested lift and replant after flowering. If required for pots, cover the bulbs half way up the neck and set in a frost free place until April. Water freely when in full growth but withhold water while dormant.
