What Size Are The Lily Bulbs?

How Do I Know If I Have Lily Beetles And How Do I Get Rid Of Them?

Lily Beetles are bright red and about 8mm long. The adults are active from late March or April to autumn. In spring they lay small groups of reddish brown eggs from which the grubs emerge. Holes are eaten in the foliage in the spring and the damage increases through the summer and severe defoliation can occur. Because of this, the bulbs become under-sized and may not flower the following year.

Inspect plants regularly, and pick off and destroy any adults, eggs or grubs when seen. Infested plants can be sprayed with imidacloprid + methiocarb (Bio Provado Ultimate Bug Killer aerosol) or imidacloprid + sunflower oil (Bio Provado Ultimate Bug Killer concentrate). The larvae are more susceptible to insecticides than the adults.

Orders for U.K. (excluding Channel Islands and Eire.) Orders over £100.00 in value are carriage paid. For orders under £100.00 please add £5.75 to partly defray the cost of carriage, alternatively you can add Bloms Private Membership for £9.95 which will get free postage and packaging. We can offer a 24 hour delivery service for the U.K. Mainland (excluding Scottish Highlands) at £15.00 per parcel.


Orders for Other E.C. Countries including Channel Islands. These are payable in advance. We charge a flat rate for carriage of £15.00 (17.50 euros) irrespective of the value of the order.


Insurance. Inland parcels may be insured for a charge of £1.00. Please indicate on your order if this is required.

Do You Notify Us Of Delivery?

For orders which are going by our courier service, DPD, you will receive a confirmation e-mail or text message from them, if you have provided those details, stating when your order is being collected from our Bedfordshire site and then a message with a hour time window in which you should expect to receive your order. Alternatively you can put the message 'Contact on Dispatch' on your order form or as a delivery message and a member of our office team will contact you when your order is scheduled to be dispatched from our warehouse.
